Having finished our book discussion of Christianity and World Religions, this past Wednesday our Wednesday Morning Spirituality Group went on a field trip. That morning the nine of us gathered in the church parking lot at 9am and carpooled to the Bahai Temple in Wilmette. I was planning on having lunch at one of the local restaurants in Evanston, however, the others wanted to try Korean food, so together we drove to a Korean Restaurant in Niles and experienced a feast. It seemed everyone really enjoyed the meal and various side dishes. Although I was the one who ate the most, they wanted to “treat” me and Maria. Although I attempted to decline their generous offer, it seems I just couldn’t win. Once again, I thank them deeply.
One of the main reasons we chose the book Christianity and World Religions was to learn from others so that we can effectively be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for and hopeful because of small groups like our “Wednesday Morning Spirituality Group.” They are not afraid to share their opinions because they know it is a safe place and atmosphere in which to do such sharing. Starting this coming Wednesday, July 25th they are going to start a new book titled What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality. “Does God’s Word in the Bible really condemn homosexuality?” This question has been the most divisive issue in the church today. The Wednesday Morning Spirituality Group will be begin studying this question about the Bible. Won’t you join us? Here is a link for further information about the book at Amazon.
