You’re invited to the N.I.C.’s Hispanic/Latino Ministry Celebration to be held on October 4th, at 4:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 216 Highland Avenue in Elgin. This is a conference-wide event celebrating our multi-cultural identity as we further refine our vision and future for Hispanic/Latino ministries. We also are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month which is Sept. 15-Oct. 15 giving local congregations the opportunity to celebrate the importance and contributions of the Hispanic culture in worship. Join us on Sunday, Oct. 4 at First UMC in Elgin as we celebrate our diversity and build relationships with our Hispanic/Latino neighbors.
Special Guest: Jorge Lockward will lead us in worship and song. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Lockward currently lives in New York City where he works as Director of the Global Praise Program of the General Board of Global Ministries, and lectures on worship at Union Theological Seminary. He is passionate about worship that brings people together across the divides of ethnicity, social class, age, gender identity and more.
Come for fellowship and food. All are welcome!
