The churches of the 2015 CARDUNAL CROPWALK want to express our appreciation to the Colonial Cafe on Bunker Hill in Algonquin for supporting our CROP effort to end hunger by allowing us to have a CARDUNAL CROPWALK donation container at their register for the past 3 months. In our attempt to collect $250, the Colonial Café even allowed us to have a last-minute fundraiser on August 27th. When the original goal was not met, our leaders reduced the goal to $180 which also was not met (through the donation container at Colonial). However, Maylo and Dick Hranac wrote a check to cover the difference and we thank them not only for their generosity, but also for their “Jesus-like Hearts” to help those who suffer from hunger. This mission will continue because of Jesus-like Hearts in the church of God to feed the hungry! Amen!
Now that these monies have been raised, our CARDUNAL CROPWALK churches will use those funds toward the purchase of food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank to assemble 200 meals. Dry/non-perishable food will NOT be opened, only assembled to a zippy bag with a receipt card in both English & Spanish. Assembly of these 200 meals will be done during the CARDUNAL RALLY to be held on Saturday, September 19th from 1:00 until 2:30pm at the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry located at 1113 Pyott Road in Lake in the Hills.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME to come to the CARDUNAL RALLY (on Sept. 19th) where we’ll also be gearing up for this year’s CARDUNAL CROPWALK which will be held on October 19th. We hope that you will join us for this special event – and we’re even working on the possibility having the NW Herald covering this important community-wide effort to end hunger!
