Peggy Literski, lay delegate to annual conference, has been asked to bring many boxes of crayons (24 count) with her to annual conference this year. These crayons will become part of a teacher or student school kit. The Elgin district (our district) is supplying crayons. The other five districts are supplying the other components (notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, etc.). The CUMC Mission Team would like each family to bring two boxes of crayons to church during May. Your crayons will be placed in a school kit or a school bag and shipped on a truck to a site in the United States or shipped in a container to a school located in the Caribbean. Last year the Midwest Mission Center sent:
- 12, 364 student school bags
- 3,443 student school kits
- 149 teacher kits
Help us serve children by bringing in boxes of crayons. In order that all student kits be similar, we ask that all boxes of crayons have 24. Crayons will be stored in a warehouse and travel in trucks—so we recommend Crayola since they are less likely to melt. During the next few weeks we will tell you a little more about Midwest Mission, but for now, add a box or two of 24 count crayons (Crayola recommended) to your shopping list.
