checks&cash     Be sure to stop and look at the children’s easel near the sanctuary entrance.   Look at the boxes of crayon and imagine a child’s delight in receiving new crayons.   These crayons will be part of a school kit or a student kit.   The kits will be sent to children recovering from a natural disaster (a flood, a hurricane or tornado) or a child living in a poor area.   Peggy Literski will deliver these crayons to the Midwest Mission truck at Annual Conference.   Our crayons will join crayons from other Elgin district churches as well as items collected by other districts (rulers, notebooks, erasers, etc.) In past years we’ve collected clothing for infants and flood buckets. This year other conferences are collecting these items for Midwest Missions, and we are collecting new boxes of 24 count crayons.
If you have already donated crayons, thank you.   If you haven’t donated yet, please purchase 24 count crayons (Crayola preferred).  We need the crayons by the last Sunday in May.
We are also collecting cash or checks.   The Bishop, Sally Dyck, of the Northern Illinois Conference has asked each church to contribute to a special appeal for Rosecrance Lakewood.   This is a new facility under construction in Chicago.   Rosecrance is a long-established mission which works with overcoming substance abuse issues.   The new facility will have outpatient counseling facilities and also residence facilities for young adults ages 18-30.
Rosecrance started in the Rockford area and now has 39 completed facilities. Three of the facilities are located in McHenry County. Be sure to look at the photos of these facilities on the power point displays.
We need all checks or cash for Rosecrance “Launch for Life” by Sunday, May 29th to make sure your gift is credited to your giving statement and to make sure the check is written in time.  Checks should have “Rosecrance” written in the Memo line.   There are special offering envelopes marked “Bishop’s Appeal” available on the table at the back of the sanctuary.
