Louisiana Episcopal Area Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey called on United Methodists to be ‘a voice for peace’ in the midst of violence around the world, including the killing of three police officers in Baton Rouge. The city has been in turmoil since the police fatally shot an African-American man while he was pinned to the ground.  “Let us be a voice for peace, a voice for love, remembering that love casts out all fear,” she wrote this week. Prayer Vigil
The public is invited to a prayer gathering for peace and against gun violence hosted by Rockford Urban Ministries this Sunday, July 24, beginning at 4pm, at Seventh Street just north of Broadway in Rockford. Prayers will be uplifted for a juvenile girl who is presently fighting for her life after being shot multiple times last week. Rev.
