Volunteers are needed for a variety of different activities in order for CUMC to put on an outreach event on Saturday, April 8th that will truly lift the spirits of families as they travel through the engaging, station-based adventure of Rise Up With Jesus which is a similar one-day event as Bethlehem Marketplace where families come and explore different crafts, activities, and snacks around the theme of the first morning.
Volunteers will work each table craft/activity either the full time or in 2-hour shifts. Here are some of the activities that we need volunteers for:
Experience the Empty Tomb: The volunteer will walk groups of 4 through this 4D experience and explain each item. The group will be blindfolded and will touch the rough tomb walls, walk through sandy floors, then touch the cloth from Jesus, then finally walking through the garden exit. There will be sounds and scents to help create the 4D experience.
Move the rock: This is an obstacle course that the families will have to roll a large “rock” through.
Reveal the Tomb: This is a scratch-off card image that they take a small tool to scratch away the image of what’s inside the tomb.
Hot Air Balloon Craft: Families put together a foam craft of a hot air balloon
Tattoos: help put tattoos on their arms
Snacks: be there to discuss Easter with families and about our church
This is just a sample of the activities. As you can see, we need a volunteer to be at each station: we need 10 volunteers for each 2-hour shift (10am until 12pm, or 12pm until 2pm) or anyone that can work the full time (10am until 2pm). See the signup sheet in the lobby at church.
Unfortunately, if we don’t have enough volunteers, we’ll either have to close the stations or just cancel this event. If you have any questions you can email me at Julie@penandmousedesign.com. Since I will not be at church before this event happens, you can also talk with Leanne Busko on Sunday morning if you have questions or need more information.
Decorating will be April 6th, and 7th if needed, if anyone would like to help, please contact me at Julie@penandmousedesign.com.
Regards,
Julie Kukreja
