Officer Amanda Schmitt, Public Relations Officer for the Lake in the Hills Police Department has shared the following information with our church office: they are presenting a free Senior Safety Series at the LITH PD on Saturday, May 6th from 9am-12pm. Officer Schmitt would like to extend this to the members of the Christ United Methodist Church (see the flyer on the bulletin board by the church office).
This event will be held at the Safety Education Center, 1109 Crystal Lake Road (the white and brick building to the south of the PD). There is no age minimum and people are welcome to bring their senior parents to the class as well if they need assistance.
This is a safety class the will cover:
- SCAMS,
- senior advocacy topics and abuse (with the Senior Service Associates of McHenry County) ,
- self-defense,
- fall prevention (with Huntley Fire),
- dating,
- social media,
- travel and home safety
- and much more
(They’ll also have donuts and coffee for all attendees.)
