The NIC’s 2017 Apportionment books are now closed, and we have a lot churches who paid 100%!  “It is because of our wonderful churches continuing their support for The United Methodist Church, that the Northern Illinois Conference was able to pay 90% of our apportionments to the general Church,” said NIC Treasurer Lonnie Chafin. “We value and treasure, not only our 100% churches but all of our churches who work year-round to raise funds to support the mission. We thank you, and we look forward to a blessed 2018.”
Perhaps you’re wondering: What are Apportionments?
The United Methodist Church is a connectional church and, as United Methodists, we are connected in many ways. Because of our faithful commitment to connectional giving through Apportionments, we are not only connected in mission and ministry, we are connected to transform.  Apportionments are a prime expression of the covenantal connection of The United Methodist Church. They enable the ministry and programs of the annual conference and other expressions of the United Methodist connection. Together, all of the churches, as represented by their clergy and lay members at sessions of annual conference, determine the conference’s program and budget; and together they agree to fund it fully.
Truly, apportioned funds do great work in the name of Jesus!
FYI: Christ United Methodist Church paid 68% of its 2017 NIC Apportionments.
