Last year the CUMC Mission Team held several fundraisers, including two Culver’s evenings. We also divided the proceeds from the rummage sale between our own local church needs and the missions our church supports. The Christmas Eve worship service contributions were also divided between CUMC church needs and local missions. At the end of the year, when the treasurer’s books were closed and balanced, we had $2250 to donate. Eighty-percent of the money was given to five community missions, including TLS Veterans and Home of the Sparrow, agencies who are participating in the panel discussion sermon: Rising Up from Homelessness. Twenty percent of the money was given to our own United Methodist Committee on Relief’s United States Disaster Relief. Last summer and fall there were extensive floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, fires in the United States. UMCOR needed money and we gave 20% of our CUMC mission funds. The check written for $150 represents moneys given by individuals, specifically designated for UMCOR United States Disaster Relief. The check written for $450 represents 20% of all the Mission Team fund collected in 2017. Thank you for supporting our projects, and countless thanks from those who actually benefitted from your gifts.
