McHenry County residents can make an appointment for the A1C screening or the Wellness and Health screening at www.mcdh.info.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 71 million American adults are living with high LDL cholesterol which can lead to heart disease, the leading cause of death in the United States.  The National Institutes of Health (NIH) says that one in three people have pre-diabetes and don’t know it.   Knowledge is power. Keep your numbers within a healthy range and greatly improve your heart health, as well as reduce your risk for chronic disease.
The A1C blood sugar screening provides information about a person’s blood glucose average for the past three months.  The test doesn’t require fasting and can be done at any time.  Knowing your blood sugar is important.  Early in the disease, diabetes has no symptoms.  Testing helps healthcare providers treat diabetes before complications occur or to find and treat prediabetes, which can delay or prevent type 2 diabetes from developing. To find out if you are at risk for type 2 diabetes, take the diabetes risk test at www.mcdh.info.   Call Carol Waggoner at 815-334-4580 with questions or visit MCDH online at www.mcdh.info to schedule an appointment.
