During the next few weeks there are two opportunities to help our community.
…Our Vacation Bible School is open to students in kindergarten through senior year of high school. There are opportunities to help teach, to help with refreshments, to help five nights or just one night. One to five evenings of your time will get you out of your house and interacting with children, youth and adults. Read more about this in the VBS section of this newsletter (or click here for the pre-camp schedule).
…The second opportunity to help is July 23rd. The Culver’s restaurant located in Huntley will be giving us a percentage of the sales between 4 and 8 p.m. We need greeters, people who will deliver food, and people who will wipe off the tables. The typical “shift” is two hours, but if you can only help for an hour, we’d appreciate that too. If you can help for more than two hours, that’s great, too. The money earned from the Culver’s night is kept until fall. Once our fund raisers end for 2018, the Mission Team will meet and allocate the money. Last year we gave money to five local charities and to our own United Methodist Disaster Relief in the United States. Last year Culver’s money helped the homeless, the veterans, those in transitional housing, individuals affected by domestic violence who lived in McHenry County and American citizens who faced hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fires and other natural disasters. Culver’s gave us over $600 for our work on April 23rd, and then customers donated over $200 in tips.
