For years the Northern Illinois Conference has had a tradition of encouraging local churches to dream beyond their current ministries by offering small grants for new and creative experiments. With the transition to the Annual Conference Shepherding Team in 2017, the conference has been realigning the Program Ministries of the conference to address today’s realities.
This fall we are excited to launch a newly organized granting structure to help our congregations experiment with ministries that are risk-taking and adventurous. The three grants available are: Social Reform, Congregational Redevelopment, and Creative Ministries.
Fall grant applications are being accepted now through October 1, 2018. Awards will be announced November 15, 2018. Spring grant applications will open January 1, 2019, through March 15, 2019. Spring Awards will be awarded on May 6, 2019. For complete grant descriptions, instructions and to apply online click here.
