Asking Your Help with an Interest Inventory.    It takes many different willing participants for a church to thrive and spread the Good News. There are lots of obvious ways we see people helping to make this church our home. There are a lot of less obvious ways also.
The Nurturing team – myself, Evy Markowski, Linda Mullen, Maylo Hranac, Linda White, Dave Dodge, Doug Literski, and Cheryl Fournier – are working on an Interest Inventory, and we ask for your participation for several reasons:
…One is to help you reflect on your spiritual gifts. What are the talents and skills that you can offer for the good of our congregation or our community?
…Another is to help you discern where you can best fulfill these gifts. Where are the needs in our congregation and community that you can help to meet? What are the opportunities for you to follow Jesus?
The team began this process with the spiritual gifts assessment tool we used last spring, leading up to our church’s “Game Changer” retreat. My personal hope is that you will be able to make connections between what you’ve learned about your gifts and what God wants you to do with your gifts. We’re not just looking to fill slots on an organizational chart; our prayer is that we might match up ways that God has blessed you with ways that you can bless God back, meaningful ways that are fulfilling and rewarding both for you and for others.
Beginning last Sunday, we are passing out the inventories over the next few Sundays. You can either fill one out at church or take it home to think and pray about it and return it in a week or two.
Please take the time to fill it out. It’s important to include your name and contact information (email and/or text phone and/or voice phone) because we would like to converse with you personally about your next steps.
We give thanks to God for your presence and participation among us.
Your friend in Christ,
Gary Gruebnau
