Many remember when David & Louise Decker pastored our church. Some know that for the past 9 years they have a fantastic mission called “Deer Ridge Ministries” for pastoring other pastors and their spouses. These pastors and their mates come from around the U.S. and some from outside of our country to Freeport for a week at no charge to be revitalized.
On this March 1st, David and Louise will host their annual prime rib dinner and dessert auction as a fund raiser to support this mission. Dinner is $25.00 per person. Prior to the dinner is the auction. There are 20+ cakes. You cannot believe the imagination that goes into the creation of these desserts. The theme this year is “Color it Spring”. The excitement of watching and bidding as cakes go for from $200 to $1500 each is fun. And then sharing it with your table before giving and receiving samples from other tables is delicious.
The real emotional portion of the evening is to listen as a pastor and their spouse tell of how they were totally burned out and ready to quit the ministry before spending a week with David and Louise praying. It is a wonderful and very worthy evening.
