During a Stephen Ministry training session one of the candidates asked this question:  “According to Galatians 6:2 it says: ‘Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you fulfill the law of Christ.” But the next verse 5 says: ‘All must carry their own loads.’  These passages seem to be contradictory. Why?”   The answer is that God doesn’t want us to confuse, but to distinguish between burdens and loads. The Greek word for ‘burden’ means something that is exceedingly heavy for someone to carry alone. On the other hand the Greek word for ‘load’ means the normal daily weight that an individual carries.

Beginning this weekend and into next week, the whole country will be celebrating the 4th of July. But my heart is heavy because there are so many people who are carrying not just normal daily weight, but “burdens” coming from various crises in life. As Christians, how are we doing in bringing some solutions? How do you keep the faith during difficult times? How might you encourage someone who is losing faith in Christ? Please pray for me as I am planning and preparing to share the message relating to this matter this weekend.
