The United Protestant Church of Grayslake is inviting churches of the Elgin District to attend a special program on Sunday, September 22nd: “The Battle Against Apartheid: A story of faith, struggle and victory” presented by Rev. Merlyn Lawrence as she shares her faith journey which includes her active role in opposing apartheid. Rev. Lawrence is the assistant pastor at the United Protestant Church. Following God’s calling, she was ordained in the United Church of Christ on August 11, 2013. She was born and grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and her faith journey is a story that everyone should have a chance to hear! The United Protestant Church is located at 54 South Whitney St. in Grayslake. Everyone is welcome– men, women, and youth–and child care will be available.
