“Shawls … made for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles…” Written in 1998 by: Janet Severi Bristow
This coming Monday (January 13th) at 1:00 pm the Prayer Shawl Ministry will be having its first meeting in 2014. Won’t you join us? This prayerful ministry impacts the lives of those who are recipients of the Prayer Shawls. Just to name a few of the many uses of the shawls, they may be given to those who are undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; during bereavement, prayer or meditation; commitment or marriage ceremonies; birthing, nursing a baby; or during an illness and recovery or rehabilitation.
And even if you don’t know how to knit or crochet, we welcome you to join us and become a participant in our ministry because we’d be happy to teach you these wonderfully useful skills! Just come to church this coming Monday at 1:00pm (we usually meet on the second Monday of the month, at 1:00pm, at church). If you have any questions, get in touch with Naomi DeLap who’ll be happy to answer them! If you need Naomi’s phone number you can either call the church office at 847-669-9009 or send an email to Judy at christumcalgonquin@gmail.com
