CUMC is in the Elgin District of the Northern Illinois Conference (N.I.C.). The theme of this year’s N.I.C. Annual Conference again asks, “Who is my neighbor?” and invites us to examine our work and witness with children. Churches of the N.I.C. are asked to support the collection of items to be assembled as “layette kits” for distribution through the Midwest Mission Distribution Center to parents to welcome their new child into this world. This witness testifies to the sacred worth of every child. And our district has been challenged to provide 1,000 baby onesies (newborn to 3-month size preferred).
Although this is short notice, CUMC wants to start collecting our baby onesies now so that we can send off our Lay Delegates to the Annual Conference (Peggy Literski & Kim Aupperle) with the baby onesies when they leave for Annual Conference. Since Peggy and Kim will be leaving for Conference immediately after worship on Sunday morning, June 8th, we ask that you please bring your donations to church by that Sunday morning (June 8th) so we can be sure they take your donations with them! In fact, it would also be helpful if you’d let one of them know you have a onesies donation. You’ll find a Onesies collection container in the narthex on Sunday.
