The Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry, located at 1113 Pyott Road in Lake in the Hills, invites you to its Community Appreciation Open House on September 14th, from 1:00 until 4pm. This is the pantry’s way of saying “thank you!” for your faithful support of this important ministry in our community. The Open House will include tours of the state-of the art pantry, as well as their gardens and orchards, and will give you an opportunity to learn how the community continues to come together to support the work of the pantry. Since moving into their new facility on April 17, 2012 the pantry continues to see a rise in the number of people needing their services. Each month they serve over 1000 people, which includes 450 children and 120 seniors. Through the Direct Connect Food Program with the local grocery stores, their connection with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, and donations from the community they are able to help those in need have healthy food on their tables. And their vegetable and herb gardens along with the fruit orchards provide fresh produce for over 5 months of the year. Beyond the services provided, the Food Pantry serves as a symbol of the communities’ concern and compassion for families and individuals who are less fortunate or who are presently experiencing difficult times in their lives. You’ve shown your community-minded spirit by being involved with the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry. Now the Pantry wishes to show you its appreciation on Sunday, September 14th.
