My name is Kim Aupperle, a member of the Mission Team for Christ UMC.  I need to share a call from a friend who volunteers for Little Angels and an organization for disabilities. My friend knows a gift I have to find the right place for items and where they’ll be useful. They asked for help passing on new clothing items they could not use at their Little Angels Organization. I was given many boxes of brand new shirts and jackets – about 200 pieces in all.

The Lord led me to Pioneer/Pads in Woodstock. They were accepting and grateful that I would bring these donations to the Pads located at 14411 Kishwaukee Valley Road in Woodstock. The residents saw that I was carrying these donations, and asked if they could help me. As all of the residents came out to help and saw these items in the many boxes, all started to cheer and clap and yell, asking who I was!  It was an overwhelming experience.  At that moment I felt the Spirit come upon me.  It was like the stories in the Bible: people wanting to know who Jesus was. “AMAZING” is all I could say. I was asked by many residents if I could help them with winter long underwear, snow pants and gloves. A women by the name of Mariam approached me and asked if I could help her–she needs a bra, yes, a bra. Really overwhelming for me, I cried all the way home. I just prayed that the PADS homeless residents would see Jesus in this blessing. I know I did. AWESOMENESS!

So my idea is to extend the Mission Team’s Warm Ministry, asking the sons and daughters of Christ to donate new or clean, gently-used winter wear in adult sizes Large, X-Large, XX-Large, for both Men and Women. Love offering envelopes will be near the collection containers if you want to make a monetary donation. (A tax donation receipt will be added to your church donation account for tax purposes.)   Long underwear, winter undershirts, snow pants, and gloves…I will buy the bra for Mariam. J

The collection containers for new or clean, gently-used winter wear items are in the narthex, explaining the Mission that we are asking you to help in in any way you’re able.  Click on these links if you want to learn more about Little Angels (in Elgin) or Pioneer/Pads homeless and their mission in McHenry County.

Thank you for sharing your Love in Christ and the love for your neighbor. God Bless

In Christ,

Kim
